چکیده

A recent sigma-delta modulator architecture incorporates spectral shaping of hardware-mismatch errors through redundancy introduced by embedding the input/output subspace in a higher-dimensional space for loop operation. Here basic design issues for the key vector quantizer and matriximpulse-response loop filter are explored. A simple design example and simulation illustrate.

Simplified Logic for First-Order and Second-Order Mismatch-Shaping Digital-to-Analog Converters

Mismatch-shaping digital-to-analog converters (DACs) have become widely used in high-performance delta–sigma data converters because they facilitate delta–sigma modulators with multibit quantization. Relative to single-bit quantization, multibit quantization significantly relaxes the analog circuit performance necessary to achieve a given level of data converter precision, but significant digit...

Reducing multibit DAC circuits errors by a simplified dynamic element matching algorithm used in delta-sigma converters

Resolution of a multibit delta-sigma modulator (DSM) is limited by its internal digital-to-analog converter (DAC) nonlinearity that is usually caused by circuit mismatch errors while realizing. Recently, some dynamic element matching (DEM) methods were proposed for reducing mismatch errors. Two main difficulties of different dynamic element matching (DEM) techniques relate to instability and co...

High-Speed Multibit Delta-Sigma ADCs with On-Line Digital Error Correction

Multibit delta-sigma modulators are widely used in recent analog-to-digital converter (ADC) implementations [1, Chapter 8]. Due to their improved stability, they can achieve the same high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) with lower order modulator and lower oversampling ratio (OSR), i.e. higher speed, than their singlebit counterparts. Also, the use of a multibit feedback relaxes slew-rate and settl...

Spectral Shaping of Circuit Errors in Digital-to-Analog Converters - Circuits and Systems II: Analog and Digital Signal Processing, IEEE Transactions on

Recently, various multibit noise-shaping digital-toanalog converters (DAC’s) have been proposed that use digital signal processing techniques to cause the DAC noise arising from analog component mismatches to be spectrally shaped. Such DAC’s have the potential to significantly increase the present precision limits of data converters by eliminating the need for one-bit quantization in delta-sigm...

Decrease in Hardware Consumption and Quantization Noise of Digital Delta-Sigma Modulators and Implementation by VHDL

A new structure is presented for digital delta-sigma modulator (DDSM). Novel architecture decreases hardware consumption, output quantization noise and spurs in Comparison to previous architectures. In order to reduce the delay, power consumption and increase maximum working frequency, the pipelining technique and the carry skip adder are used. Simulation proposed architecture shows that the qu...
